Great Moroccan Desert Experience: Chegaga Dunes 3-Day Tour

This 3-day desert trip is an exceptional adventure to the middle of nowhere. Escape the busy streets of the town and immerse yourself in the hearth of the big Sahara with its iconic sand dunes, and breathtaking desert landscapes.

Day 1: Marrakech – Ouarzazate – Zagora

This desert tour from Marrakech will start with an amazing drive across the high Tizi N’Tichka Pass and beautiful berber villages suspended on the flanks of the mountains.

You will have a short break to visit the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, where many films have been shot, such as Gladiator, Babel & The Mummy.

Pause for lunch at the Ait Ben Haddou, then continuation to Ouarzazate and Agdz, where you will start to explore the first extraordinary glimpse of the Draa Valley, Kasbahs and desert oases.

Dinner and overnight in fabulous desert camp in Zagora.

Day 2: Zagora - M’hamid - Erg Chegaga

We will leave Zagora early in the Morning, direction M’hamid el Ghizlane before arriving to the sumptuous sand dunes of Erg Chegaga. Here you will appreciate the real Sahara Desert, where stones are replaced by sand dunes which become increasingly higher and higher… Chegaga are absolutely the highest sand dunes in Morocco.

The biggest part of dunes may reach aver than 300 meters and stretches for about 40 kilometers. The sunset and sunrise views from the dunes are almost unique with a beautiful view on the horizon.

During this second day tour you will have the chance to enjoy a picnic lunch in the desert, and you will join a true camel ride experience in the big immensity of the Sahara. Spend your second night in a Berber tent under a starry sky.

Day 3: Erg Chegaga - M’hamid - Zagora - Marrakech

After a morning breakfast, we will travel back to Marrakech. On the road, we will stop in the Moroccan Hollywood “Ouarzazate” where we will visit old Kasbah of Taourirt and one of its various film studios before having lunch in a local restaurant.

After lunch, continuation to Marrakech through Tizi N’Tichka Pass, then end of our fascinating desert adventure.
